Uncorrected machine reading. This text was read by machine (Apple Vision OCR) from a scan of a newspaper page, and the page was cut into articles by machine, at the headlines found by their type size. Nothing has been corrected: expect misread words, text from a neighbouring article, and titles that are the machine reading of the headline, some of them only fragments. Quote from the scan, not from this page.
How this article was cut and titled: headline found by type size in the OCR geometry (split_tabloid.py); 1-3 of 7; machine-segmented newspaper page; uncorrected Vision OCR.

EREN, recently interviewed KAMLESH GANDHI, a member of the strike committee, discuss how he sees the future of the strike.

I'm afraid that there nothing effective that we can do any more. If we call a mass picket we have to be certain Wedon't want a repetition of 1 when very Tew cople turned u PEX and the TUC won' support the resumption of the mass picket, so lots of trade union delegations would be reluctant We could lobby the TUC but support what's the point? Look at the firemen. Theirs case; the. CUC Had a polic opposing the UTE CULL WEE limit, and they dide't get any support So would me get when we are asking Гог much more?

SYMPATHETIC As for sympatnetic industrial action, well, officially, we come up against a brick wall. We've had meetings with other unions, We lost the vote with the electricity workers at the end of last year, The General and Municipal Workers Union is obviously not going to support us Unofficially, there's only th Postal Workers Union. But on 14 May. now the mail has been diverted and it doesn't go through Cricklewood any more. It goes through four other where we've got no contacts, and there are even members in them.

Lots of people think that our struggle is all over, that we've tried everything and there's nothing more We've conference. Firstly, we want to thank the movemeet for its suppont.

LESSONS And we also want to araw the lessons from the Grunwick dispute This is very impor lant. There are a number ol disputes like ours — such as Carners. Sandersons othets. If we lose at Grunwick then we are going to lose all HIC CUSHIS The most important lesson s to tel of our own wrencin and not to go through legal channels, We stil have to look for support from the labour JUVECIL We will stick it out until the end. We are committed to the movement and to our people on strike. We can't just give up. Many people have found it difficult to find other jobs once they say that they are from Grunwick If eventually we do have to look for other jobs, the strike committee will be the last to go. The main thing now is to get delegates to the conference depots, NF can do.
