Four-panel cartoon strip on the Royal Ulster Constabulary: screams from a Northern Ireland interrogation centre are explained away as prisoners injuring themselves, while a policeman holds a man against the wall.

The strip, panel by panel

1. BAD TASTE by Cormac. (A figure with a cosh and a map of Ireland on a plinth inscribed "Ireland — [illegible] suffered for thee"; a small tourist asks:) "What ever happened to Socialist Realism?"

2. Caption: "Please ignore the screams of pain and the moans of horror and despair." (A screaming face over a skyline.)

3. Caption: "It is only the sound of insane republicans trying to discredit the R.U.C. ..." (A hand grips the bars of a cell.)

4. Caption: "... by inflicting injuries on themselves!" (A man in a cell punches himself in the face while a grinning policeman looks on.)
