This text was corrected by hand against the scan: the strip at the head of page 14, which the machine reading did not see; image taken from the scan and its lettering transcribed (18 Oct 2026). Number 42 of Cormac's weekly Bad Taste strip: vote Socialist Unity. Note: printed number blurred in the scan ("#4[?]"); by sequence it is no. 42.

The strip, panel by panel

1. BAD TASTE #4[?]. (Cormac peers over a wall carved with his name:) "What am I doing here?"

2. (A bespectacled man:) "He's there to remind you to vote Socialist Unity — and for Brendan Gallagher!" (Crowd:) "Wahey!"

3. (Two women:) "Is it a protest against the publication of work in Socialist Challenge containing images of violence against women?" "Or the fact that the texts were boring and incomprehensible?"

4. (Cormac on the wall:) "If you must know — I'm protesting the lack of financial support for Socialist Challenge — which provides them with an excuse for not having paid me recently!"

5. (A woman thinks:) "Ah! How empty life would be without Socialist Challenge! I must send them a donation today!"
