Uncorrected machine reading. This text was read by machine (Apple Vision OCR) from a scan of a newspaper page, and the page was cut into articles by machine, at the headlines found by their type size. Nothing has been corrected: expect misread words, text from a neighbouring article, and titles that are the machine reading of the headline, some of them only fragments. Quote from the scan, not from this page.

Al a joint meeting of the Coventry nd Leamington Socialist Challenge apporters groups at the beginning of about Socialist Challenge We felt that Socialist Challenge remained the best paper on the left, nevertheless a number of substantial criticisms were raised, Broadly speaking, these criticisms revolve around the fact that the ariginal project of Socialist Challenge - revolutionary regroupment — has lost its urgency and immediacy (not through any fault of SC, but because of the negative response of other organisations) Therefore the paper has over the past few months (barring some excellent coverage of Iran, the public sector dispute, and Southall)

lacked direction and accessibility.

It was felt that this might be amended in part by the creation of a theoretical journal to expand upon and clarify aspects of revolutionary practice, but the paper still lacked accessibility in the workplace. To this end it was felt that the whole notion of revolutionary regroupment needed to be reassessed in light of the response to Socialist Challenge in general, and the New Year call in particular.

in addition, the coverage in the paper tends to be London-centric and acked appeal in the provinces. Much of the coverage appears abstract and distant. Finally, it was felt that the paper has lacked thorough analysis of the Labour Party's performance over the last five this is essential for the successful completion of the tasks to which Socialist Challenge supporters should be BOOTESSNE under the new Tory government.

In light of the above, we would like to make a call for the convening of a Socialist Challenge soon as possible conference to be held outside London (we would be prepared to arrange it in Coventry), Such a conference would address itself to the way forward for the Socialist Challenge project, the future form and nature of the call to regroupment, the ature of the paper, and a thoroug inalysis of th character and record, its defeat, and future direction government, Chillenge supporters groups Coventry and Leamington Socialist THE DEADLINE for Saturday NORTH WEST MOSS apportera sell the paper ar Mass one SIDE Sociall GREATER MANCHESTER Socialist School students apport the pacer and would like to ce mebived in anti-fascist activity, please contacied те сто 14 Ріссаону, Маполова with a view to fomting a Saltord S WARRING But Challenge NORTH EAST MIDDLESBROUGH Socialist Chalпои анио, зациину lunchlime nan Socialist Challenge 24 May 1979 page 14 CORONAS WHERE DID THE LABOUR PARTY GO WRONG?
